Shanghai Fugro Geotechnique Co., Ltd was founded in 1992,
is the first foreign joint venture enterprise in
the
Shanghai
construction industry. Shanghai Fugro’s scope of work is
mainly on Geotechnical testing and monitoring that include
soil in-situ testing, construction instrumentation
monitoring and engineering/structural health monitoring.
By applying the available State-of-Art technology, the JV
company has been providing excellent technical services to
the local foundation engineering and underground
construction projects.
Shanghai Fugro has obtained the National
qualification for Engineering Survey (Grade B) and also
the standard certificates for ISO9001:2008 and GB/T
28001-2001. Since establishment, Shanghai Fugro has served
well in many important projects all over
China.

Shanghai Fugro has introduced the management concept and model
from the Fugro Group. At the same time, Fugro also brought
in
advanced technology and equipments for its Shanghai
operations。
Since 1992, Shanghai Fugro has completed many major
monitoring projects in Shanghai busied areas including
developments in Nanjing East Road and Huaihai Road;
redevelopment of Xujiahui district; and developments in
Pudong new district. These monitoring projects, (including
Shanghai Square, Hong Kong Square) involved the monitoring
of deep excavation, structural safety and construction
peripheral environment (surrounding buildings, underground
pipelines) safety.
In metro tunnel construction area, Shanghai Fugro had taken
part in the monitoring of many projects in
Shanghai as well as those outside the city.

The scope of work completed for these projects covered the
instrument monitoring of over hundreds of metro stations
and underground subway entrances constructions; instrument
monitoring of peripheral ground and structures during
tunnel construction by TBM method; and structural
monitoring of existing tunnel line due to adjacent
building redevelopments. Shanghai Fugro has also been
awarded with the long term stability monitoring work for
the existing
Shanghai metro line.
Recent monitoring works awarded to Shanghai Fugro include
those for Shanghai Metro Line 11, 12 & 13; Huangpu River
Jungong Road Tunnel, Suzhou City Metro, Wuhan City Metro,
Kunming City Metro, Hangzhou City Qiantang River Qingchun
Road Tunnel.
The technologies and equipment used in our monitoring work
include electric level measurement for tunnel deflection,
static liquid level settlement system for long term tunnel
line settlement measurement and IPI inclinometer system
for ground movement measurement. A comprehensive automatic
remote sensing (using existing telecommunication
technology) system has been developed for the data
acquisition of the instruments.
In recent years, we have been working with LOADTEST
Company to introduce OSTERBERG Cell Pile Testing method in
Hangzhou Bay Bridge, Sutong Bridge and Macau Grand Lisboa
Hotel construction projects. Testing work includes pile
size of Max. Diameter 2.8m, length 128m and test load
reaching 96.8MN.
Shanghai Fugro technical staff includes experienced

including professors and PhD who are well qualified for
taking on various type of challenging projects in
engineering consultancy, engineering testings and
professional training.
